Central
Ohio Soccer Association Receives
$15,000 Donation
from Central Ohio Hyundai Dealers
COLUMBUS, Ohio
- The Central Ohio Soccer Association (COSA) recently received
a $15,000 donation from Central Ohio Hyundai Dealers as
part of Hyundai's efforts to fund youth soccer programs
that benefit the greater Columbus area.
"We are very excited
about this donation and thank the Central Ohio Hyundai Dealers
for their generosity," said Tom Blackburn, president of
the board of directors for COSA. " This donation will be
used to help sponsor the 19th Annual Jarosi-Willis Memorial
Cup on June 12 and 13, 2004."
The donation is
part of the Hyundai Women's World Cup Challenge sponsored
by WSYX ABC-6 and Central Ohio Hyundai Dealers in celebration
of the Women's World Cup and in honor of September as Youth
Soccer month.
"COSA is a youth
soccer program that truly benefits the central Ohio community,"
said Mary Kay Walsh, Hyundai District Sales Manager. "The
organization's dedication to helping its community's youth
learn the sport of soccer while having fun is inspiring."
The Jarosi-Willis
Memorial Tournament is a tribute to Frank Jarosi who died
in 1985 after being struck by lightening during a State
Cup Tournament. In 1995, the tournament's name was
changed to the Jarosi-Willis Memorial Soccer Tournament
as a memorial to Mick Willis, who served as MOSSL President
and Jarosi Tournament Director from 1987 to 1995. The tournament
has since grown to over 200 teams annually.
The
Central Ohio Soccer Association (COSA) is a member of the
Ohio South Youth Soccer Association and is affiliated with
the US Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer. COSA offers
youth recreational and premier level soccer teams and hosts
the annual Jarosi-Willis Memorial Soccer Tournament in June
of each year. COSA also sponsors various camps as well as
coaching and referee clinics. For more information on COSA
and its youth soccer programs, call (614) 890-1207 or visit
