Scholarships

The Frank Jarosi Memorial Soccer Scholarship was established in 1991 as a tribute to one of the organizers of Central Ohio soccer programs.  Frank Jarosi died in 1985 of injuries four months after being struck by lightning during a State Cup tournament.  The inception of the Frank Jarosi Memorial Soccer Tournament in 1986 was the result of a wish for lasting tribute from the Central Ohio Soccer Association.  In 1995 the tournament's name was changed to the Jarosi/Willis Memorial Soccer Tournament to also serve as a memorial to  Mick Willis, who served as MOSSL president and Jarosi Tournament Director from 1987 to 1995.  The tournament draws over 200 teams annually.  Proceeds from this tournament have been used to improve soccer facilities for youth in the central Ohio community.  The Association's directors have established an annual scholarship program for graduating seniors from any accredited high school in the Central Ohio area who have participated in a high school or club soccer program.
